PHOTOJOURNALISM: journalism that presents a story primarily through the use of pictures.
Objective & accurate depiction of events
Often combined with other elements such as words. Photojournalists often work with a writer.
Photojournalism encounters a lot of ethical dilemmas in terms of photo manipulation (Enhancing vs distorting), privacy, graphic and shocking images.
Doing some research on photojournalism I found a photo essay by a photographer called Eugene Richards. The book is called 'Cocaine True, Cocaine Blue' and explores the drug infestation in housing projects in the states.
